Towel Bib Tutorial

I'm excited, I've finally had a bit of time to get some tutorials made up. So over the next few weeks I should hopefully start posting more craft tutorials.

I know some people love towel bibs, they work great for toddlers, since they can't unvelcro or unsnap the bib. I had this adorable owl bib, so I decided to make one for Annamarie.

You'll need a small piece of ribbed knit fabric and a kitchen size hand towel.
Photobucket

First step is to eye how much of the towel you want hanging over their back. I did 7.5"
Photobucket

Then find the center of the bib and mark it with a pin
Photobucket

From the center, mark 3" out on each side
Photobucket

Then mark 2.25" up from the center
Photobucket

Connect those marks making a circle
Photobucket

Cut the circle out
Photobucket

Cut a piece of your ribbed knit 14" long by 3" wide
Photobucket

Fold it in half making a circle and sew it together with a 1/4" seam
Photobucket

Fold that circle in half, wrong sides together
Photobucket

Then you will fold both the towel and the ribbed knit into quarters and mark each quarter, you're marking them so you can line those marks up when pinning.
Photobucket

Pin the ribbed neck to the bib, right sides together, lining up the raw edges and pin the quarter hash marks together first. You will have to stretch the ribbed neck to fit the bib.
Photobucket

Sew the neck onto the bib. You'll have to stretch the neck a bit as you sew.
Photobucket

If you have a serger, now would be the time to serge the raw edge. If you don't have one (like me!) zig zag the raw edge, or you could also put some fray check on the raw edge.
Photobucket

And you have yourself a fun towel bib!

Annamarie approves! (it's obviously a bit big yet, but will be great for when she's bigger)
