How to Make a Felt Rosary

Here's the tutorial on how I made the children's felt Rosary. Sorry the pictures aren't the best and I don't have pictures for each step. Busy week here this week, and now I'll be gone for the weekend so I just wanted to get it posted while I had a little time.

What you'll need:

60 felt balls in your choice of colors (the bigger the balls, the larger the Rosary. My beads were 7/8" so the Rosary was rather large when finished)
Felt to make the cross
String (the thicker it is, the more durable it will be, but harder to put through the felt balls)
A thick needle

Now, you can make your own felt balls, or you can buy them online. If you haven't made felt balls before, I found this tutorial really helpful How to Make a Felt Ball
Or you can buy them online just by searching "felt balls" or "felt beads"

You'll need to make a felt cross for at the bottom of the Rosary. If you aren't much of a sewer, you can just cut one out of felt, or you can do like I did and cut two matching crosses and sew them together. Leave a small opening on one side, stuff it with a little polyfil, and then sew the hole shut

What I did was thread the needle with thread through the top of the cross. Then I tied off the end. You can add a bit of superglue to the knot if you want if you're worried about it coming untied.

Then it's time to thread on the felt balls. If you're making it like I did, you'll want two different colored beads, as well as one different bead for where the centerpiece is. The different colored beads help differentiate the different parts of the Rosary. So how I did it was blue for the Our Father beads, and then a white bead for the centerpiece.
This is the order I did it, but you can just change colors as many times as you want
1 blue bead
3 purple
1 blue
1 white

Then onto the decades
10 purple (per decade)
1 blue (after the 10th bead, except on the last decade)

Then when you get to the last bead from that last decade, tie it off onto the other side of the Rosary. I just tied it above the centerpiece.

And there you have it!
